Peking Opera‘s beauty lies in the makeup featuring pink and white cheeks, the mask in thick colors, the graceful orchid-like pose of fingers, the light footsteps, It’s traditional and creative also.

For over two hundred years, Chinese melodies have been played on huqin accompanied by sandalwood castanets, and Chinese stories have been sung in the styles of xipi and erhuang. It is the historic mission of the National Peking Opera Company to give a perfect presentation of national culture. The Peking Opera, derived from Hui Opera and Han Drama, will become an international art here and provide you so much wonderful regular plays.

China National Peking Opera Company (CNPOC) is one of the national ensembles of performance arts directly affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, People’s Republic of China. The company was founded in January 1955, with Mr. Mei Lanfang the great master of Peking opera art as the first president in its history. Now, Mr. Wu Jiang, a notable dramatist, is the president of the CNPOC, which consists of three troupes and one drama studio.

MEI LANFANG THEATRE, located in the golden area of the southeast of the Guan Yuan cloverleaf in Beijing's west city district, is named after a great master of Chinese Peking opera, Mei Lanfang. This great theatre is a combination of both traditional and modern art. Belonging to China National Peking Opera Company, it contains 1068 seats for the audience, with an area of more than 13000 square meters and five floors on the ground and two underground. The design of The Experimental Theater-Changhe Yuan conjures up vivid images of opera shows a thousand years ago. The Experimental Theater-Changhe Yuan in the building of China National Peking Opera Company is a stage for the most authentic Peking Opera performances. The 216 seats for the audience are close to the stage, making for better connection between those on and off the stage.
